Celestial motion is itself a mathematical model: Kepler's three laws give deterministic orbits, ephemerides tabulate them, and the sexagenary cycle, the twelve houses of the zodiac, and the twenty-eight lunar mansions are alternative discretizations of one continuous celestial sphere. Fortune-telling is statistical analysis of the long observational record of this model, projected as life-trajectory narrative.
This monograph argues that East and West independently invented isomorphic discretization schemes — Wu Xing with the five planets, Bagua, and Zi Wei Dou Shu in the East; tarot–astrology correspondences, the twelve zodiacal houses, and the house system in the West: twelve houses against twelve houses, a triple tradition of twenty-eight mansions sharing one lunar step, the five planets as the very names of the Five Phases. Such cross-civilizational convergence is not coincidence but the necessary output of a shared mathematical substrate (periods, modular computation, combinatorics); the two systems corroborate each other when judged by these criteria — their common periodicity is documented (Jupiter's 11.86 years ≈ one twelve-year branch cycle), modular isomorphism verifiable (Z₅ permutations, modulo-12 house rotation), statistics reproducible (the Dresden table’s reset-correction mechanism; the yoked experiment of this study).
The book has six chapters plus appendices. A chapter on the celestial model lays the foundation, Eastern and Western model chapters give the two sides, a corroboration chapter closes the argument, a yoked experiment supplies first-hand evidence, and combination tables with correspondence master tables go to the appendix.
